Hydrography refers to the discipline of measuring water quality and quantity in rivers, lakes and streams. During the course of our hydrographic work we collect an enormous amount of data and so we also need to specialise in data handling, management and presentation. Our end product is water data and the informative presentation of the collected data.

The impact of society on the environment is an issue which has grown rapidly in importance and relevance in recent times. This has resulted in the implementation of many environmental clean up and management programs initiated by all levels of Government. It follows that there is a growing need for accurate environmental data in order to quantify the success of these initiatives. In addition to this there is an on-going requirement for long term monitoring programs established to assess the water resources of South Australia. The long term monitoring programs are used to assess trends over time and for an understanding of the availability of water within the State.

The Managing Director, Bruce Nicholson, has been involved in the water industry in New Zealand and Australia for over twenty five years. During this time WDS has established and maintained an extensive network of professional contacts in all water disciplines throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Our objective is to provide 'Worlds Best Practice' in environmental monitoring and studies which will have a beneficial impact on economic and employment growth for South Australia. Where possible, locally produced instrumentation and expertise are used to fulfil the requirements of the client.
